Early College Work Based Learning
The Early College Work-Based Learning Program at Slippery Rock University works to integrate real-world work experiences with classroom learning. It is designed to provide students with practical,hands-on learning opportunities that are directly related to their academic and career goals. The Work Based Learning program aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom and practical skills needed in the workplace.
The Work Based Learning program comprises the following areas:
- Non-Credit Internships
- Federal Work Study - off-campus sites with area nonprofit organizations
- Micro-internships
- Faculty Micro-Grants for Work Based learning opportunities
Early College Work-Based Learning connects academics with real-world experiences to ensure that students recognize the relevance of their education to the workplace. This program will focus on students in the first 2 years of their college experience helping them to realize the value of classroom instruction to their chosen career field using a continuum of experiences that lets them first learn about work. then learn through work and find that they are learning at work.
