RockAlerts is Slippery Rock University’s Emergency Notification System. The free service will announce weather delays and closings and provide real-time alerts about emergency situations.

Who can receive RockAlerts?

Everyone with an @sru.edu email address will automatically receive these messages at their sru.edu email address and via the mobile phone on file. Please review your account information by logging in here with your @sru.edu email address and password to update your account with additional mobile phone numbers or email accounts.

If you don’t have an @sru.edu email address, you may register your personal email to create an account and add the email addresses and mobile phone numbers that should receive RockAlerts.

Frequently asked questions about RockAlerts

  • Can I opt out of using this RockAlerts? Users who add personal email addresses and phone numbers may choose to remove and change their contact information in their account dashboard. Students, faculty, and staff will automatically receive RockAlerts at their SRU email address. Users with SRU email addresses are encouraged to keep their SRU email account active to be informed of important announcements.

  • Will my account expire? Yes, after four years an account will become inactive and you will no longer receive messages. You will receive an email prior to the account expiring, prompting you to update your account.

  • Can I add more than one email address or phone number to receive Rock Alerts? Yes. When logged in to your account, you may enter up to three email addresses and three mobile phone numbers.

  • Will I receive advertisements or other non-emergency messages? No, besides an occasional test message, only emergency messages are sent to subscribers. SRU and its emergency notification system provider, Omnilert, will never share your email addresses or mobile phone numbers with third parties.

  • How can I prevent messages from being marked as spam or junk? To help ensure delivery, please add no-reply@omnilert.com to the address book of your registered email account(s).

  • Where else are emergency notifications posted? During an emergency event, alerts will post on the SRU website, in addition to the text message and email notifications.

  • Which local media stations receive weather closings and delays from SRU? SRU will notify the following media when there is a closing or delay:

    • WPXI-TV, Pittsburgh
    • WPGH-TV, Pittsburgh
    • KDKA-TV, Pittsburgh
    • WTAE-TV, Pittsburgh
    • WKBN-TV, Youngstown, Ohio
    • WYTV-TV, Youngstown, Ohio

    • WISR (680 AM, 107.5 FM), Butler
    • WBUT (1050 AM, 97.3 FM), Butler

  • What is the difference between Campus Alerts, e2Campus alerts, RockAlerts, and Omnilert? None. Campus Alerts and e2Campus are previously used names for SRU’s emergency messaging system. In October 2024, SRU rebranded the system with the name “RockAlerts.” Omnilert is the name of Emergency Notification System platform.
