Storm Harbor Equestrian Center
Welcome to Storm Harbor Equestrian Center! At Storm Harbor, we serve the entire community, encompassing more than six counties in the Pittsburgh area. Storm Harbor Equestrian Center provides weekly Equine Assisted Activities (EAA) for people of all ages with cognitive, physical, emotional and social disabilities. The SRU Foundation Inc. is the fiscal agent for the Storm Harbor Equestrian Center.
While our main focus is children and adults with disabilities, we also offer a few programs which are open to the general public. We provide certified instructors and services for our Special Olympic Equestrian Team, Disabled Veterans programs, community summer camps, many programs for individuals on the Autism Spectrum. We also offer additional day programs for local community agencies, schools and youth programs for children and adults with disabilities.
Our Facility
Our Barn consists of 18 standard sized horse stalls, feed/tack room, wash bay and a separate hay shed. We have a fenced outdoor riding arena (120'-220') and a heated indoor riding arena (80'x190') with accessible wheelchair lift. Behind the barn you will find 13 acres of pasture and trails and a newly developed sensory trail.
EAA Accreditation
Storm Harbor Equestrian Center is a Premier Accredited Center with PATH International (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship), a major organization in the country for equine assisted activities. All of our instructors are certified through PATH Intl. We are currently the only center with a Premier status in western Pennsylvania.
