Summer Camps

We are excited that you have selected The Macoskey Center as your summer camp destination. Through our summer camps, we aim to inspire children to care for the natural world around them through quality environmental education programming. Please find additional information about the camps below. Before each camp, we will send you a more detailed schedule, information about how to get to the MC, an introduction to MC staff members, as well as an additional copy of our camp policies and procedures.

What? Environmental Education Camps for ages 4-9
When? Full Day Option (5-9yrs): 8:30am-3:30pm, Half-Day Option (4-5yrs): 8:30am-5:30pm
Add Ons: Before & After Care (7-45am-8:30, 3:30pm-4:15) & Boxed Lunches ($30 total for 3 days
We offer a sliding scale price option for those who need it!

Week #1:  Farm to Fork - Let’s Get Growing!

Dates: June 9th-11th
Description: Experience and taste The Macoskey Center’s gardens and edible landscape! Campers will get their hands dirty as they plan, plant, and grow a garden. They will also learn how to properly care for a garden and what plants need to thrive. *Campers who have attended in previous years will learn how to plant and grow new types of produce to keep them engaged!*

Week #2: Fur, Feathers, & Scales - A Summer Safari

Dates: June 23rd-25th
Description: Join us for a summer safari and meet amazing PA wildlife! Campers will discover furry, feathery, scaly, and slimy creatures through hands-on activities, games, and outdoor adventures. We’ll learn what makes each animal unique and how they contribute to our local ecosystems. Discover simple ways we can all work together to support wildlife and the environment!

Week #3: Solar Quest - Exploring the Power of the Sun

Dates: July 14th-16th
Description: Discover the power of the sun! Campers will build mini solar-powered cars, cook a tasty treat with a solar oven, and create unique sun prints. Through fun experiments and outdoor adventures, they’ll learn how solar energy powers our lives sustainably while making new friends!

Week #4: Farm to Fork - Let’s Get Cooking!

Dates: July 28th - 30th
Description: Explore farm-to-table cooking with fresh ingredients from The Macoskey Center’s gardens, food forest, and edible landscape! Campers will harvest, prep, and cook delicious food while learning about healthy food choices and how to support sustainable practices. The week ends with campers preparing a meal to share with their families.
