Slippery Rock University recently received a $50,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board to combat underage and dangerous drinking.

The grant will be used to support the SRU police by purchasing new equipment like portable breathalyzers and funding additional overtime for officers. The funds will also be used in educational programming, resources, student employment and internship opportunities to help SRU students make legal and responsible decisions related to alcohol.

Scott Irlbacher, the SRU assistant dean of students, and Lizzy Kline, SRU assistant director of wellness education, co-wrote the grant proposal to secure this funding.
