Barnett presents counterterrorism research at NHSA conference
Sept. 21, 2020
Brett Barnett, a Slippery Rock University professor of communication, recently presented as part of the National Homeland Security Association’s virtual conference series.
Barnett's webinar presentation, “How Fringe Social Media Sites Are Fueling Hate-Based Violence in the U.S.,” was part of NHSA's Counterterrorism-Prevention program. Internationally recognized for his scholarly examinations of extremist rhetoric, Barnett was one of only a few academics selected to present at the conference.
The virtual series replaces NHSA’s annual in-person conference, which includes presentations from professionals in the areas of public health, counterterrorism, cybersecurity and infrastructure security, as well as emergency health, medicine and management.
