SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Slippery Rock University's Theatre Department will present its newest production titled "Alice by Heart" with four shows Nov. 21-24 at the Miller Theater in the Performing Arts Center.

Based on a novel by Steven Sater, "Alice by Heart" is directed by Aaron Galligan-Stierle, a SRU assistant professor of theatre.

Set in London during World War II, the story follows Alice Spencer and her friend Alfred who take shelter in an underground tube station, where they escape into the world of "Alice in Wonderland" as Alfred battles illness. "Alice by Heart" explores themes of first love, loss and the transformative power of imagination during dark times.

Show times and dates are 7:30 p.m., Nov. 21-23, and 2 p.m., Nov. 24. Tickets are $12 for SRU students and $15 for general admission. Tickets can be purchased online at sru.edu/tickets or in-person at the Miller Theater ticket window up to one hour before each performance.

"Large components of our show wouldn't exist without our actors infusing their personal truths and identities into the world we created," said Kaleb Purswell, a senior acting major from Panama City, Florida, and the associate director of "Alice by Heart." "There is something in this show for everyone and I hope it helps people see the beauty in the world while also knowing that loss and grief are human and unique to every individual."
