FORGE (@forgesummerdanceintensive) is a Professional Training Workshop held each summer in the Performing Arts Center on the beautiful Slippery Rock University campus. The FORGE Dance Intensive is designed for students who are looking for a vibrant and challenging summer program with outstanding faculty. Classes cover a breadth of disciplines including (but not limited to): modern, ballet, jazz, hip hop, improvisation, repertory, composition, somatic practices, and body conditioning with highly regarded international, national, and local dance artists.
All participants will have performance opportunities for both repertory work and their own choreography during the performance series. This intensive is geared towards dancers ages 13+ and employs the best teaching practices in the dance field to create a non-competitive environment so that dancers and teachers can thrive!
FORGE Summer Dance Intensive was created by Ursula Payne and Lindsay Viatori in partnership with the Department of Dance at Slippery Rock University in 2016 to create a world class summer dance intensive that brings national attention to western Pennsylvania and contributes to the richness of dance culture in the tri-county region and northern Pittsburgh. This program exposes young dancers to the campus of SRU and its nationally ranked dance program.
