In 2013, three art faculty: Barbara Westman, SRU, Agata Zielińska-Głowacka and Aleksander Windyński, Academy of Fine Arts, Gdansk, Poland, initiated a new project between the two Fiber Art Studios located at our institutions. The goal is to engage our students and faculty in an international, intercultural art conversation and collaboration. For the past three academic years we have conducted three international projects: Experiment, Here & There, Impressions in Red. Artworks were exhibited in many galleries in Poland and the US, including The Dixon Center in Harrisburg, University Museum at IUP.
This international collaboration brought a new experience to the Fiber Art Studio at both institutions. It gave students an opportunity to exchange ideas and thoughts, to exhibit together and to enrich their portfolios. We believe it is beneficial to all students to become aware of art created by their peers abroad. The impact of culture, tradition and education can be seen through art.
