The Engineering program at Slippery Rock University provides students with a comprehensive education, emphasizing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. SRU offers four degrees in Engineering: Civil, Construction Managment, Electrical and Computer, Industrial and Systems, Mechanical, and Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering.

Civil Engineering

The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at SRU provides students with sound fundamental knowledge in structural engineering, environmental engineering, transportation engineering, geotechnical engineering, and water resources engineering. It also provides students with high-quality training in required professional skills through project-based learning, hands-on learning, experiments, design projects, and internships. The balanced approach between theory and hands-on practice will best prepare students to succeed as practical engineers.

Construction Management

The Bachelor of Science in Construction Management at SRU equips students with the skills to manage and lead construction projects in real estate, facilities, and infrastructure. The program emphasizes key areas such as sustainable building practices, construction methods, and business processes while incorporating cutting-edge technology like building information modeling. Electrical and Computer Engineering

The Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering at SRU provides students with a strong foundation in electrical systems, computer engineering, and advanced technologies. Industrial and Systems Engineering

Industrial engineers optimize complex processes or systems. They work to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, man-hours, machine time, energy and other resources that fail to generate value. The Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) degree at Slippery Rock University is designed to produce highly skilled graduates capable of achieving life-long professional development in an industry that has high demand that will be accelerated by retiring engineers in the profession. The curriculum will provide students with a hands-on, in-depth learning experience covering the major fields of study in ISE, including new, highly-marketable skills such as Six Sigma and sustainability.

Mechanical Engineering

The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at SRU provides students with the knowledge and skills in the design, testing, and manufacturing of various devices, tools, engines, machines, electromechanical units, and systems. They are also trained in problem-solving skills, math skills, creative design, leadership skills, and communication skills (both verbal and written). A capstone design course in the senior year will integrate all aspects of learning in team-based design projects.

Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering (PNGE) degree at Slippery Rock University is designed to produce highly skilled graduates capable of achieving life-long professional development in an industry that is rapidly growing. The curriculum will provide students with a hands-on, in-depth learning experience covering the major fields of study in PNGE, including exploration, production, and transportation of oil and natural gas resources using safe and environmentally friendlier methods.
