ABET Accreditation
SRU Engineering Department’s Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Petroleum and Natural Gas programs are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), the global accrediting body dedicated to ensuring the quality and rigor of engineering and technology education worldwide. Accreditation for our newest programs, Electrical and Computer Engineering and Construction Management are expected with our first graduating class. ABET accreditation is a voluntary, non-governmental process that assures quality in educational institutions and programs through rigorous peer review. Achieving ABET accreditation means that our Engineering programs meet the high standards set by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, ensuring that our curriculum provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for professional practice.
This accreditation not only benefits prospective students by confirming the program's adherence to industry standards but also provides valuable feedback to our faculty and administrators, highlighting areas of strength and identifying opportunities for improvement. For employers, ABET accreditation is a mark of confidence that our graduates are well-prepared to begin their careers in engineering with a strong educational foundation.
