Thomas Flynn, a Slippery Rock University professor of strategic communication and media, and Allison Peiritsch, a SRU associate professor of strategic communication and media, presented at the National Communication Association Convention, Nov. 20-24, in New Orleans.

The presentation, titled “Communication for Greater Regard: Teaching Crisis Response as Moments for Organizational Growth and Evolution—A Case Study Approach,” explored applications of traditional crisis communication theories while challenging organizations to move beyond blame and reputation repair. Instead, Flynn and Peiritsch emphasized how organizations can prioritize trust, progress and learning in their crisis response strategies to foster opportunities for growth and evolution.
