Two Slippery Rock University students presented a research project at the International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition, Nov. 17-19, in Portland, Oregon.

Amber Maurer, a senior civil engineering major from Cowansville, and Amina Tandukar, a sophomore civil engineering major from Kathmandu, Nepal, presented the piece titled “Comparative Analysis of Synthetic Fiber in cement-based Composite: Impact on Mechanical properties.” The presentation explored the effects of synthetic fibers on the mechanical properties of cement-based composites, contributing to advancements in sustainable and durable construction materials.

The students’ faculty adviser for the project was Robabeh Jazaei, associate professor of engineering, who also presented research at the conference.

The IMECE, held annually in Portland, Oregon, is a global engineering conference uniting academic researchers, industry leaders and government representatives from more than 50 countries to present nearly 2,400 papers across diverse engineering disciplines.
