People with SRU ties elected to public offices

Nine people with ties to Slippery Rock University were elected to public offices following the November general elections.
Nicola Henry-Taylor, a 1993 SRU graduate with a degree in history, was elected judge for the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. A Ross resident, Henry-Taylor is a private attorney and director of diversity and inclusion at the Duquesne University School of Law.
Kenya Johns, a 2014 SRU graduate with a degree in psychology, became the first Black woman to serve as mayor of Beaver Falls. Johns is a school counseling program director at Geneva College.
Ron Beitler, a 2005 SRU graduate with a degree in political science, was elected as a Lehigh County commissioner. Beitler, a Macungie resident, previously served two terms as Lower Macungie Township commissioner. He owns a wedding photography and cinematography business and a brewery.
Ryan McGregor, a 2009 SRU graduate with a degree in political science, was elected to the North East Borough Council in Erie County. McGregor is a head of business intelligence for an international logistics company.
Joshua Young, ’04, and a member of the SRU council of trustees, was elected to his fifth term as Caln Township commissioner in Chester County. A mechanic and tow truck driver from Coatesville, Young was the township’s youngest commission when he was first elected in 2005 at age 23.
Jondavid Longo, a 2015 SRU graduate with a degree in history, was elected to a second term as Slippery Rock's mayor, after the becoming the borough's youngest mayor in 2018.
Neil McEwen, an SRU instructor of criminology and criminal justice, was elected judge for the Mercer County Court of Common Pleas. McEwen has been a magisterial district Judge since 2009.
Alice Gretch, an SRU instructor of computer science, was elected judge of elections in Franklin Township, Beaver County.
Andrew Thompson, a senior criminology and criminal justice major from Harrison City, was elected as a constable in Penn Township, Westmoreland County.
