Pease-Hernandez receives PASSHE DEI Keeper of the Flame Award

Christine Pease-Hernandez, a Slippery Rock University associate professor of strategic communication and media, received Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Keepers of the Flame Award. The award recognizes commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging within the State System.

Pease-Hernandez was recognized for teaching intercultural communication, communication concepts, civil discourse, communication theory and interpersonal communication, as well as providing a student-centered, inclusive and engaging learning environment that challenges individuals to consider diverse perspectives.

The State System and its universities honored recipients of the Keepers of the Flame Award during the 2023 DEI Summit, Nov. 9, at Shippensburg University.
