Lamar appointed assistant superintendent of Pittsburgh Public Schools

Monica Lamar, a 1995 Slippery Rock University graduate with a degree in elementary education, was appointed assistant superintendent for instructional leadership of the Pittsburgh Public Schools, effective Oct. 22.

Lamar, previously the principal at Pittsburgh Dilworth PreK-5, will provide support and supervision to a group of Pittsburgh city schools and set goals for student achievement and operational efficiency across the district, while keeping a supervisory role at Dilworth.

Pittsburgh Public Schools consists of 54 schools with a combined enrollment of nearly 25,000 students.
