SRU professors write DEI articles for State System bulletin
Oct. 12, 2021
Christine Pease-Hernandez, a Slippery Rock University associate professor of strategic communication and media, and Marnie Jo Petray, an SRU associate professor of modern languages and cultures, recently wrote separate articles about diversity, equity and inclusion that were published in Connectivity, a bulletin of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
Pease-Hernandez's article, titled “Creating a More Diverse and Inclusive Curriculum,” discussed higher education’s long trek toward seeking diversity in its learning, teaching and working environments. Petray's article, titled “Seeking Sociolinguistic Justice in Higher Education,” addressed language as a DEI factor still largely excluded from policies, strategies and programs for promoting and realizing a more equitable academic community.
Both professors will present more DEI work in the upcoming virtual PASSHE DEI Summit, Nov. 3-5.
