The Rocket wins first place in ASPA newspaper awards

The Rocket, the independent, student-run newspaper at Slippery Rock University, won first place with special merit in the American Scholastic Press Association’s Scholastic Newspaper Awards.

The Rocket was one of 15 student newspapers to receive this recognition in its category of colleges and universities with enrollments of more than 2,500. First Place with Special Merit is awarded to publications that scored more than 950 points on the judges’ scoring system and, in the opinion of the reviewers, was an outstanding overall example of a scholastic publication in format, content and presentation.
