Ballew selected as a Project NExT Fellow

Joshua Ballew, a Slippery Rock University assistant professor of mathematics and statistics, was recently chosen as a 2018-19 Project NExT Fellow by the Mathematical Association of America.  

Project NExT, which stands for New Experiences in Teaching, is a yearlong professional development program for new or recent doctoral graduates in the mathematical sciences.

Project NExT programming includes workshop, research and service opportunities and other professional activities.  

Ballew, who joined SRU in 2017, received his doctorate in applied mathematics from the University of Maryland, College Park. He was one of 90 Project NExT Fellows chosen in this year's class.  

The MAA, the world's largest community of teachers, students, professionals and enthusiasts in fields of mathematical sciences, has sponsored Project NExT since 1994, with more than 1,700 Fellows participating.
