Lia Paradis, a Slippery Rock University associate professor of history, recently had her book "Imperial Culture and the Sudan" released by I.B. Tauris Publishers.

Paradis' book examines the cultural impact of Sudan on the popular image of the British empire, particularly the popularity of British Army Gen. Charles George Gordon, who died in a siege from Mahdist forces in the Egyptian-held city of Khartoum that is the present-day capital of Sudan.

"Imperial Culture and the Sudan" is available for purchase on the Bloomsbury website. Bloomsbury is the parent company of I.B. Tauris.
