Equestrian club team at SRU advances to national semifinals

The Western-style equestrian club team at Slippery Rock University qualified for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Western Semifinals, March 17-18 in Reedsville, West Virginia.

The team earned the berth after finishing with the most points, 249, in IHSA Zone 2, Region 5 this season. SRU's point total was 17 higher than second-place West Virginia University. It was the second time in team history SRU finished the season as the high-point team in its division.

As the Zone 2, Region 5 high-point rider, Aubrey Braham, a junior mathematics major from Grove City, automatically qualified as an individual entrant for the IHSA National Championships, May 3-6 in Harrisburg. If SRU places in the top three at the semifinals, it will qualify as a team for nationals.
