SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - While a 21st century Christmas can allow many of us to participate in such unique activities as tracking Santa's journey around the globe via the internet, many folks yearn for a return to a simpler, more traditional holiday experience.

Fortunately, Slippery Rock University's Old Stone House has the answer compliments of its Christmas Open House, 4-9 p.m., Dec. 8.

Hosted by the Friends of the Old Stone House, a community volunteer group, the open to all ages event will feature tours of the Old Stone House decorated in period-appropriate holiday décor as well as the opportunity to learn about the foods, celebrations and holiday traditions practiced by those living in early America.

Period-appropriate music, Christmas-themed crafts and activities including popcorn stringing and more will be available. Refreshments will be provided.

Admission is free. Donations to help support the work of the Old Stone House will be accepted.

The Old Stone House is located at the intersection of routes 8, 528 and 173, just south of Slippery Rock.
