Slippery Rock University celebrated Veterans Day Nov. 11 with its annual ceremony that took place virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Steven Pancoast, a senior exercise science major from Saint Marys, Georgia, recited the Howard Schnauber poem, "My Name is Old Glory," a piece that Pancoast described as "a powerful message because it is written from the perspective of the American flag." Pancoast, who is president of the Student Veterans of America at SRU, is also a former Naval Petty Officer 1st Class. The Veterans Day Ceremony, organized by the Office of Alumni Engagement, also included members of the SRU Army ROTC raising the colors, laying a wreath and playing taps.
