SRSGA moves inaugural events, ‘Paws for a Cause’ and the Presidential Pet Parade, to the ARC

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - When the weather threatens to rain on your parade, you do what resourceful people do - you move the parade indoors.
The Slippery Rock University Student Government Association today announced the "Paws for a Cause" and Presidential Pet Parade, kickoff events in the 17-day celebration honoring SRU and the inauguration of President William Behre, would be moved to the Aebersold Recreation Center.
"We've been watching the weather forecast for Thursday and it looks like we're due for rain most of the day. Rather than wait until the last minute to make a decision as to whether or not to host the event in the Quad as planned, or move it indoors, we decided to make the call today so that people would have time to plan," said Dallas Kline, a senior communication major from Hanover who is the SGA president.
From 12:30-4 p.m., SGA members will provide refreshments and information about responsible animal adoption, and accept donations for the Butler County Humane Society. Items needed include canned dog and cat food, chew treats, leashes and clay cat litter. A complete "wish list" of items the BCHS needs can be viewed by clicking here.
At 3 p.m., Oscar and Sadie, President Behre's and Leah Ingram's rescue dogs, will lead a pet parade on the track.
"We're encouraging everyone that has a pet with paws to join us for this fun and informational event," Kline said. "Dressing your pet in green and white is optional."
