SRU’s Macoskey Center hosting educational nature events for the public

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Explore the wonders of nature with free events at Slippery Rock University's Macoskey Center for Sustainability Education and Research. The center is hosting several educational events for the public about seasonal foods, fall flowers, birds and other critters.
The following family-friendly events are part of the Macoskey Center's Autumn Exploration Series and are led by Macoskey Center staff and SRU students:
- Seasonal Foods, 6-7:30 p.m., Oct. 22, as attendees can learn about pumpkins and apples, known as the "smartphone of fruit."
- Migration and Hibernation, 6-7:30 p.m., Oct. 23, as attendees can learn about how birds migrate and where critters go in the winter.
- Native Perennials and Pollinators, 6-7:30 p.m., Oct. 24, as attendees can learn about fall flowers and how people can help pollinating insects survive the winter.
Additionally, the Macoskey Center is partnering with the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania to host a bird viewing and campus walk, 4:30-6 p.m., Oct. 16 and Oct. 29. The event will include free food.
The Autumn Exploration Series events require an RSVP that can be completed online. No RSVP is required for the events on Oct. 16 and Oct. 29.
