SRU recognized for its online master’s program in autism spectrum disorder
Slippery Rock University was ranked by the Applied Behavior Analysis Programs Guide on its list of Top 25 Master’s in Autism Spectrum Disorder Online programs.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Slippery Rock University has been recognized by the Applied Behavior Analysis Programs Guide on its list of Top 25 Master's in Autism Spectrum Disorder Online programs. The program identified by the guide is SRU's Master of Education in special education: autism, a 36-credit, 100% online graduate program that prepares students to meet the demands of schools and community agencies that serve children and adults with autism spectrum disorder.
The ABA Programs Guide is a free online resource for exploring the nation's best degrees for future behavior analysts.
According to the ABA, "Slippery Rock University created an affordable online master's in autism that meets the need for autism educators. This highly specialized graduate degree is 100% online for working professionals. The flexible curriculum can easily accommodate both educators and human service agency professionals. Courses are taught by professionals with experience in both autism education and applied behavior analysis."
SRU ranked No. 22 on the list and the rankings consider student-to-faculty ratio, tuition and
Behavior Analyst Certification Board-approved course sequence.
The ABA Programs Guide sites the Bureau of Labor Statistics to emphasize the demand for special education teachers, which is expected to grow by 3% through 2029. The guide also notes that an estimated 1.8% of children in the U.S. have been diagnosed with autism, a rate that has doubled during the last 20 years.
