Officials from London's New Year's Day Parade and Festival were at Slippery Rock University, Sept. 26, to formally invite the Marching Pride, SRU's marching band, to perform in the 2024 London's New Year's Day Parade in London, England. SRU announced the Marching Pride's acceptance into the parade in March 2022, but parade officials came to SRU to invite the Marching Pride in-person. Bob Bone, co-founder and chair of the LNYDP; Steve Summers, chair of the London Mayors' Association; Bill Northen, LNYDP senior director of international participation; and Dean O'Blonsky, LNYDP senior American consultant, met with band members and Jonathan Helmick, associate professor of music and director of the Marching Pride.
