SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Student Nonprofit Alliance, an on-campus organization of students preparing for careers in the nonprofit sector, are coordinating a campus-wide hurricane relief campaign now through Oct. 12 to aid those effected by Hurricane Florence.
"Many of us have spent spring and summer breaks in the very communities that were recently slammed by this devastating hurricane," said Alice Del Vecchio, assistant professor of interdisciplinary programs and nonprofit leadership program coordinator.
"Some of us have families and friends who were impacted by these storms and many of us have visited these communities and know their beauty first hand. All of us have been humbled by the havoc this has brought to people's daily lives and most of us have wondered what we can do to help.
"That's easy. You can donate to the cause. We're asking other student organizations to launch fundraising drives and/or individuals to make a donation. No donation is too small," she said.
Individuals who donate will be asked to identify which organization - Catholic Charities, Red Cross or Salvation Army - that they want their dollars to support. Funds will then be divided between those organizations' relief efforts in North Carolina.
