A group of 16 Slippery Rock University students from Barbara Westman's upper-level fiber art class collaborated with art students from Chongqing Technology and Business University in China to design a collection of banners that have been installed on the SRU campus. The handmade banners explore the culture, art and nature of China. Communicating via WeChat and email, students from the two universities talked about the project and exchanged sketches in preparation for its installation. "This project presents a unique opportunity for the students to create outdoor art," said Westman. "What we see on display is the combination of students' research and creativity. We all learned a lot about China through this assignment." The banners are located between the Art Building and the SGA Gazebo. They will be in place through early October.
