Approximately 1,400 Slippery Rock University first-year students assembled Aug. 20 at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium for New Student Convocation. This was the first of two ceremonies in which the SRU Class of 2025 will be together in one place (the other being commencement in four years). After the convocation, all SRU students were invited for a kickoff event for the 2021-22 academic year with a cookout and yard games hosted by the Slippery Rock Student Government Association. The first day of classes for the fall semester is Aug. 23.
