SRU earns multiple rankings from College Choice

Slippery Rock University was recognized in multiple 2020 rankings by Choice College, including Best Online Colleges in Pennsylvania.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Slippery Rock University was recently recognized by College Choice in four of its 2020 rankings, including its list of "Best Online Colleges in Pennsylvania," as well as four national and state rankings for individual academic programs. College Choice is a website that "helps students and their families find the college program that meets their particular needs."

SRU was ranked No. 16 on the list of Best Online Colleges in Pennsylvania. SRU was one of two schools from Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education to be included in the top 25 and one of four PASSHE schools on the 38-school list. SRU offers more than 20 online doctoral and master's degree programs, as well as seven online degree completion undergraduate programs.

Nationally, College Choice recognized three SRU academic programs:

  • "Best Online Master's Degrees in History," No. 3.
  • "Most Affordable Nursing Degrees in Pennsylvania," No. 4.
  • "Best Homeland Security Degrees," No. 5.

The College Source rankings are based on multiple sources of data looking at institutional excellence and return on investment. Data sources include the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, Payscale and U.S. News and World Report. Graduate programs were based on affordability (30%), commitment to graduate education (30%) and return on investment (40%). Assessment measures for undergraduate programs were grouped by categories of retention (30%), finances (30%) and program appeal (40%).
