SRU ranked in Top 25 reading and literacy programs

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Educators looking to advance their training by earning a nationally-ranked, affordable master's degree in reading and literacy education don't have to look beyond Slippery Rock University. The University has been ranked among the nation's Top 25 most affordable online master's in reading and literacy programs by BestValueSchools.com.
BestValueSchools.com looked for public and private colleges and universities that offer online master's programs in reading and literacy education and are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation.
Using data from the 2015-16 school year, BestValueSchools.com compared schools utilizing the following criteria:
• Program popularity.
• Overall strength of online teacher education programs.
• Accreditation.
• Affordability.
All schools were scored on a 100-point scale for each of the criteria. A curve was added so the top-scoring program earned 100 points.
SRU ranked No. 16 with a score of 71.8. BestValueSchools.com described the University as "a rare find" thanks to the well-organized curriculum and flexibility in course choice. The website's editors said that SRU is "one of the best values for an online master's in reading literacy education degree. With its focus on instructional coaching, SRU's online master's degree in reading will prepare you for careers in teaching, diagnostics, and consulting."
