Karen Riley officially became Slippery Rock University’s 18th president on July 1, and is already starting to make her way around campus to meet with members of the SRU community. On July 5, she met with students from the Chamber Choir and Jazz Ensemble before they departed for their tour of Europe; Jason Hilton, president of the SRU faculty union chapter of APSCUF; and a few other faculty and staff around campus. On July 6, Riley met with Domenic Ionta and Alfonso Angelucci of the SRU council of trustees, and alumni and donors at a food tasting event for the Sunset Serenade. The Serenade is an annual fundraiser for the Storm Harbor Equestrian Center that will occur in the fall. Riley will be out and about on campus in the weeks ahead to get to know more people before fall semester classes begin Aug. 21.
