SRU’s RN to BSN program earns national Top 50 ranking

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University has been ranked in the Top 50 online Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs for 2018 by Best College Reviews.

Best College Reviews remarked that Slippery Rock University, ranked at number 26 with six points, is "a pioneer in online RN to BSN education."

According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, earning a BSN is now the minimum educational requirement in nursing and more employers are demanding it. The online learning model has proven popular with professional nurses, particularly those who live far from campus or need to complete the RN to BSN transition on their own schedule.

Best College Reviews rated institutions using data for 143 different schools from the National Center for Education Statistics' College Navigator database. The top 50 online RN to BSN programs were given points and ranked based on the following criteria:

Under $1,000, 1 point
Under $750, 2 points
Under $500, 3 points
Under $250, 4 points

U.S. News and World Report Recognition as a "Top School for Online Bachelor's Programs":
Top 10, 6 points
Top 25, 5 points
Top 50, 4 points
Top 100, 3 points
Top 150, 2 points
Top 200, 1 point

Customization options:
Format customizations (e.g. hybrid/online, full-time/part-time, accelerated, degree completion, etc.), 1 point per customization option.
Content customizations (e.g. minors, concentrations, specializations, etc.), 1 point per customization option (5-point cap).

Wow factor:
1 point awarded for each unique feature or program that "wowed" BCR.
