SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — For the fourth consecutive year, Slippery Rock University's College of Business has earned a 2020-21 Field of Study badge from the Colleges of Distinction.
Through a comprehensive vetting process, COD recognizes business programs that exhibit high-impact practices and criteria based on stability, multidisciplinary, practical experience, collaborative learning, business ethics, dedicated advising and counseling and industry connections.
"We complete a thorough review of the programs before granting the honors," said Tyson Schritter, chief operating officer for Colleges of Distinction. "We're looking for qualities such as accreditation, breadth of program, advising and mentoring, integration of career services, and successful outcomes for students. It's wonderful to see how SRU really exemplifies these qualities."
"Receiving this award again is a testament to the high-quality standards of our programs," said Lawrence Shao, dean of the College of Business. "Academic excellence has always been one of our overarching goals. I thank our faculty and staff for their devotion and commitment to the College of Business which makes this accolade possible. National recognition like this helps emphasize our student-centric focus and innovative approach to business education."
According to COD, "Globalization and the intricacies of modern business operations require effective communication and apt problem-solving strategies. SRU's programs in business keep their future leaders adaptable as they grow alongside their industry."
SRU's College of Business consists of eight academic departments, more than 80 faculty members and more than 2,000 students across 16 degree programs.
COD has recognized and honored schools throughout the U.S. for excellence in undergraduate-focused higher education for 20 years. The member schools within the COD consortium distinguish themselves through their focus on the undergraduate experience.
Earlier this month, SRU had a trio of badges bestowed upon it from COD, including being named a 2020-21 national, public and Pennsylvania college of distinction.
