SRU named one of Pennsylvania’s top online colleges

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University has again been named a "Top Online College" in Pennsylvania by OnlineColleges.com, coming in at No. 5 on a list of 50 state institutions.
OnlineColleges.com ranked more than 2,500 national accredited online colleges and universities on 14 different criteria, using 2015-16 data from the National Center for Education Statistics' Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, including:
-Number of distance education programs.
-Ratio of students participating fully or partially in distance education to total enrollment.
-Average in-state tuition for undergraduate and, if applicable, graduate students.
-Total electronic library collections, including digital books, databases and media.
-Graduation rate.
-Retention rate.
-Availability of tuition plans, including payment plans, guaranteed tuition plans or other alternative tuition plans.
-Availability of academic and career counseling services.
-Availability of job placement services for graduates.
-Availability of virtual reference services.
-Offering dual credit.
-Offering credit for life experience.
-Offering advanced placement credit.
-Offering credit for military training.
All schools were scored on a 10-point scale for each of the criteria. Individual scores were then multiplied by their respective weights and the scores were added together for a maximum possible score of 100 points.
SRU, which ranked fifth among Pennsylvania's Top 50 institutions, earned a composite score of 90.73.
