SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Jeananne Nicholls, Slippery Rock University professor of business, was recently voted to the board of directors for The Education Partnership, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit organization that provides school supplies to students and teachers in southwestern Pennsylvania.

Nicholls, who is serving a two-year term, is the only representative from a higher education institution on the 14-member board, which meets five times annually.

"This is yet another opportunity for me to professionally create awareness of both SRU and the School of Business while also becoming involved in a program that is close to my heart," said Nicholls, who is also the vice president of collegiate relations for the Pittsburgh chapter of the American Marketing Association.

"We are excited to have (Jeananne) join our governance team," said Justin Brown, executive director of The Education Partnership, who acknowledged Nicholls' ability to share and recruit others to work with children in crisis. "(Her) energy and imagination will greatly help us to both sustain and grow our mission to the thousands of eligible students and their teachers."

Since 2011, The Education Partnership has provided more than 90,000 students in southwestern Pennsylvania with $8.5 million worth of supplies at no cost to the schools. The organization's goal is to help the 60,000 students in the region who
don't have access to basic school supplies.
