SRU’s Macoskey Center to host annual Earth Fest, April 20
Slippery Rock University’s Macoskey Center will host its annual Earth Fest on April 20 with free events including live music, raffle baskets and more.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Earth Day was first commemorated in 1970 and has transformed into a day of celebration and education across the world. Slippery Rock University's Macoskey Center will be hosting its annual Earth Day celebration called Earth Fest, noon. to 5 p.m., April 20 at the Macoskey Center, located at 247 Harmony Road.Earth Day is observed April 22 but Earth Fest at SRU occurs on the closest Saturday. Earth Fest will include many events for all ages including environmental education activities, pony rides for kids, live music, regionally sourced food, raffle baskets, an electric car show and more.
"I have always enjoyed the challenge of planning a large event and I always look forward to seeing the joy people get from attending the event," said Sami Laurence, director of the Macoskey Center. "Overall, this is a free, fun celebration of Earth Day as well as The Macoskey Center's 34th birthday that brings the SRU and larger community together."
Several educational activities such as story walks, native plant identification and sensory education will be hosted during the event by SRU groups including the Keystone State Literacy Association, Pollination Organization, Environmental Education & Interpretation Club, and the Student Occupational Therapy Association. Local organizations such as Audubon Society of Western PA, Pittsburghers Against Single-Use Plastic, Marcellus Outreach Butler and more will also have activities during the festival.
The event is free and open to the public. Parking is available at the Storm Harbor Equestrian Center with accessible parking available at the Macoskey Center.
