SRU Dance program ranked among nation’s best

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Slippery Rock University has been recognized as having one of the country's best dance programs for 2019-2020 by DanceUS.org.

DanceUS.org ranked programs in 13 states including Arizona, California, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas. SRU was one of only three programs in Pennsylvania to make the list.

DanceUS.org selected SRU's program because "the University prepares its graduates to transition through different phases of their professional and personal lives while sustaining employability and increasing financial stability as dance professionals. The Dance Department at SRU promotes dance as an art form through the creative, technical, expressive and intellectual development of each student in a personalized environment."

SRU offers a variety of dance degrees including a bachelor of arts; a bachelor of fine arts; a dual degree in dance and adapted physical activity; and a dance minor.

The program is ideal for students seeking multilayered careers as dance professionals, providing advanced training in performing, choreography, technology and dance education.
