SRU’s online master’s in education program earns national recognition

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Slippery Rock University master's degree in education has been ranked as one of the top 50 online programs in the country by TheBestSchools.org.
SRU was one of three institutions in the state - and the only university from Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education - to be included on the list.
TheBestSchools.org, a member of the American Council on Education and the National Association for College Admission Counseling, "aims to provide the best resources and advice to assist learners through every step of their education."
Using information from the National Center for Education Statistics and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the rankings were formulated based on the following criteria:
• Strength of online instruction methodology (25 percent).
• Academic excellence based on a school's curriculum generally or within the selected discipline (20 percent).
• Strength of faculty scholarship (20 percent).
• Reputation (15 percent).
• Range of degree programs (15 percent).
• Financial aid (5 percent).
SRU's COE offers several graduate programs for educators, both on-campus and online. The online master's in education options include elementary education and secondary education in multiple content areas, including history and math.
