SRU online master’s degree in secondary education: English ranked among nation’s best

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Slippery Rock University has been recognized as having one of the country's best online master's degrees in secondary education: English by OnlineCourseReport.com. SRU ranked No. 5 out of 20 institutions.

OnlineCourseReport.com, whose mission is "to provide an independent and thoroughly researched voice on the best online courses" compiled the rankings utilizing the following factors:

• Hourly tuition rate
• US News & World Report graduate English program rankings
• Student-to-faculty ratio
• Number of bachelor's degrees offered
• Graduation rate
• Application fee

SRU's program includes a basic teaching track and an advanced teaching track. The basic track is for individuals who possess a bachelor's degree and appropriate coursework in English but do not hold a teacher certification. Successful completion of the program will lead to a master's degree with state certification. The advanced track is for individuals who already possess teacher certification in English.
