The good news is that no Slippery Rock University students had to "Go To Jail" as part of the March 23 Relay for Life fundraiser at Morrow Field House. The "Monopoly"-theme annual event, raised more than $26,000 for the American Cancer Society. The event is not only a fundraiser for cancer research, but also celebrates cancer survivors and honors those who have passed away. More than 500 people took part in the event which also featured performances from a variety of groups including the SRU Winter Guard and JamRock. Other activities included a dodgeball tournament, a luminaria ceremony and the Mr. Relay pageant. It is estimated that nearly 4 million people take part in Relay events in more than 5,000 communities in the U.S. Photographs by Ryan Shimko, a sophomore digital media production major from Hershey.
