Slippery Rock University officially introduced William Behre, president-elect of the University, at a March 22 press conference and welcome reception. Helping to welcome Behre to SRU were Rachel Lawler, SGA president; Karen Whiteny, interim chancellor for Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education; William McCarrier, chair of SRU's council of trustees; and Jeff Smith, SRU trustee and chair of the University's Presidential Search Committee. Behre, along with wife, Leah Ingram, also took time to visit the SGA Bookstore and meet with students in the Smith Student Center. Behre, who was named SRU's next president March 14 by the board of governors of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education will assume his duties July 1. He is currently the provost at Georgian Court University and has nearly 25 years of experience in higher education as an educator, researcher, faculty leader and administrator.
