Slippery Rock University's marching band, The Marching Pride, journeyed from SRU to Dublin, Ireland, March 14. The group will perform in the 2019 St. Patrick's Day Festival, March 17, a two-mile long parade through the streets of Dublin. The band was invited to make the March week-long trip by Brendan Carr, Lord Mayor of Dublin. The group departed SRU by bus for Philadelphia International Airport, where it flew nonstop to "The Emerald Isle." In addition to the parade, the band will compete at the Limerick International Band Championship, March 18, in Limerick. That event will feature more than 1,300 musicians from Ireland, Europe and the United States.
