SRU’s online master’s degree in social studies ranked among nation’s best

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University has been recognized by OnlineMasters.com for having one of the nation's best online master's degree programs in social studies. SRU's master of education in secondary education with a concentration in history/social studies was ranked 16th.
SRU was also named the "Most Customizable" program on the list, thanks to the flexible start dates and program length.
According to the website, rankings were compiled using a number of factors including academic metrics, graduate reputation and average net cost. Additional considerations included online programming; faculty credentials and training; student engagement, services and technology; and percent of students with loans and overall default rate.
SRU's program offers coursework on the foundations of education, instructional technology and counseling. The program is designed to serve the educational needs of working teachers with a curriculum that offers flexibility for certified educators who desire an advanced degree and more individual professional development, as well as quality credentials for students who aspire to earn state certification.
SRU's program offers both a basic track and an advanced track. The basic track - offering both onsite and online classes - is for students seeking certification. The advanced track - which can be completed completely online - is for certified teachers.
