More than 40 teams comprised of Slippery Rock University students stayed "Up 'til 2" Feb. 8 at the ARC to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The event was an incredible success by any measure, raising more than $68,000 for Memphis, Tennessee-based St. Jude, which annually treats more than 7,500 children suffering from childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The five-hour program - which included games, prizes, food, music and even some head shaving - featured participating students raising $50 or more to compete in hourly activities and challenges in support of St. Jude patients. More than 75 percent of St. Jude's funding comes from public contributions. Families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food.
