SRU hosting free children’s music programs, Feb. 11 and April 1
Slippery Rock University’s Early Childhood and Elementary Music Community Engagement Initiative is hosting free music programming for elementary-school-aged children and their families or caregivers in February and April.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Slippery Rock University is once again hosting free children's music programs for the community in February and April. These programs are part of SRU's Early Childhood and Elementary Music Community Engagement Initiative.
Sing. Move. Play.
Families, caregivers, and elementary-school-aged children are invited to attend a "Sing. Move. Play." event, 9:30-10:30 a.m., Feb. 11, at the Swope Music Hall Band Room, Room G9. Children are encouraged to dress in their favorite costume. SRU faculty and students will lead children in activities to explore music through singing and movement. Free tickets can be obtained online at sru.edu/tickets.
Tuneful Tales
There will be a Tuneful Tales program, 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., April 1, in the Swope Music Hall. The event will include music and movement, sing-alongs, crafts and storytime for 40 minutes before a half-hour performance of The Lion and the Mouse. After this performance, there will be a 30-minute "instrument petting zoo" where children can get a closer look at woodwind instruments. A quiet room and nursing space will be available. Free tickets can be obtained online at sru.edu/tickets.
Fiddlesticks Pre-Concert Activities
SRU faculty and students from the Early Childhood and Elementary Music Community Engagement Initiative will host music and movement activities prior to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Fiddlesticks Concert at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh. The programs begin at 10 a.m. prior to the 11:15 a.m. concerts on Feb. 18 and April 29. Participation is free for people who purchased a ticket to the concert. Sing. Move. Play. at the Children's Museum
SRU's Sing. Move. Play. events will also be offered at the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh, 11-11:30 a.m., Feb. 19 and March 19. These events are free with museum admission. For more information, visit the Children's Museum website.
