SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Slippery Rock University has been named one of the nation's most affordable universities for geography majors by affordableschools.net.
SRU, one of only two institutions from Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education to make the 40-school list, was ranked No. 23.
To determine its rankings, the website looked at data from the National Center for Education Statistics to understand what geography departments offered the best career opportunities to its students before awarding points based on three core metrics: average cost of attendance; student-to-faculty ratio; and graduation rate.
"Having our program earn such a significant ranking is a credit to our faculty who are incredibly student-focused and comfortable in their role in helping our students realize their respective responsibilities as scientists," said Michael Zieg, interim dean of the College of Health, Engineering and Science.
