Robert McCollum Scholarship
(offered for students studying abroad for fall semester only)
This scholarship is open to all SRU students engaging in a semester-long SRU study abroad program. In order to be eligible to apply, students must be studying abroad for a minimum of one semester. This scholarship is awarded in the amount of $500 for the fall semester. Requirements include the completed application form, a resume, a letter of recommendation, a 1-2 page typed essay and a minimum GPA of 2.5. Consideration will also be given to financial need. Frank Chua International Study Scholarship
(offered once per year: fall, spring, or summer)
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students who are willing to step out of their comfort zone to explore a strikingly new experience in very different part of the world. Preference is given to native born Americans and students seeking to study abroad for Asia or Asian studies. This scholarship is awarded once per academic year in the amount of $600. Connel Ashmore Baker Scholarship
(offered for students studying abroad for spring semester only)
This scholarship is open to all SRU students engaging in a semester-long SRU study abroad program. In order to be eligible to apply, students must be studying abroad for a minimum of one semester. Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant
(offered twice per year: summer-fall or winter-spring)
This scholarship is open to all SRU students who are studying abroad. It is organized by Phi Kappa Phi, but membership is not required to apply. To qualify, students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75, be able to provide proof of acceptance or application to a study abroad program, and supply letters of recommendation. Every year 50 scholarships of $1000 are awarded nationwide. The scholarship can apply to any study abroad program regardless of the start date, but applications are only accepted twice per year. BENNINGTON STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded for the Spring study abroad programs in the languages. The student must have earned at least 6 credits at the 200 level in Spanish, French, Russian or German. Applicants must be declared as French or Spanish majors or Russian or German minors. Asian Studies minors must have completed 103 in Chinese, Korean or Japanese. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in the language studied. The award must be used for study abroad in the respective language. The applicant should submit a statement of purpose addressing academic and personal interest in the chosen program and describing how the study abroad experience would benefit him/her. THE DAVID BOUCHER '80 INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is to assist with some of the costs for study abroad trips which include semester study abroad, class trips or an independent study experience (for credit). Applicants must have a minimum 3.25 GPA and be majoring in Nursing or Healthcare Administration. Application deadline is October 15. DEB COHEN MEMORIAL STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded for the Spring study abroad programs in the languages. Must be a French or Spanish major/minor or an Asian Studies minor who has completed 103 in Chinese, Korean or Japanese. Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in the language studied. DR. JAYNE E. CRAIG SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship for art students traveling to Europe. Must be a junior or senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship will open December 1st and close on February 5th, 2024. This scholarship is currently closed.
ELEMENTARY/EARLY CHILDHOOD INTERNATION EXPERIENCES SCHOLARSHIP
Must be currently a P-4 Undergraduate education major in Elementary Education/Early Childhood. Funds are for an international travel experience including spring break trips. Students receiving a tuition waiver are not eligible. Those interested should provide a one page letter describing what they hope to gain from the experience and address their financial need. One award will be given each semester. The application deadline is March 15th.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE AWARD
Elementary Education major (1st major) with a QPA of 3.0 or higher who is a 1) senior doing an international student teaching experience, or 2) junior doing an international field experience, or 3) sophomore or higher standing taking an international field base course. LAURA ORDAZ FUND FOR LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCES ABROAD
Applicant must be accepted into the annual Student Leadership International Tour program. Students will be automatically considered based on appplication to the program. Award is used to help defray the base cost of the international program and cannot be used for items such as meals. DR. CLAIRE SETTLEMIRE TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants must be planning to travel abroad as study abroad for a semester or a year, or travel as part of a university-escorted trip within 12 months of receiving the award. First preference is given to history majors, but secondary education majors with a social studies concentration will be considered as well. An essay of no more than 750 words that includes the following information 1) place of proposed study AND period of time in which the study will take place 2) Statement addressing how the travel experience will build upon educational experiences (courses and/or other informative activities) and contribute to potential educational or career plans 3) Indication of how the funds, if granted, are expected to be used is required. GENE AND JOANNE WILHELM SCHOLARSHIP
Must be a student in the Geography, Geology and the Environment Department. Applicant must be a full-time student. Student must show financial need. Student has to have completed 24 credits at SRU. First preference to a student who has demonstrated international experience (i.e. a student from another country attending SRU or a student who has completed an academic study abroad program). This scholarship is renewable with a 3.0 GPA.
