Offered by: Special EducationThe Special Education K-12 certification enables graduates to teach children identified with having a disability in school placements from K-12.
Why Choose Special Education?
This program will offer hands-on experiences with students in a variety of public and private schools across Western Pennsylvania. Before graduating, students will have three field placements and complete a capstone activity, including 15 weeks in a special education setting. Students will earn a certification to teach in the state of Pennsylvania.
What Will You Learn?
Students will engage in a variety of different teaching skills in different content areas including, reading, science, and social students. Students will also follow the framework for Multi-Tiered System of Support to learn specific interventions to provide educational and behavioral strategies for students with various needs.
Careers In Special Education
After completing this degree, students can become a full-time teacher in any grade level or span from K-12 working with individuals with a variety of disabilities.
